Mary and Doug lived in Surrey County, a small district of the United Kingdom. A small, unassuming hamlet, the county is not home to much of any criminal activity… With the suspicious exception of Mary and Doug.
What caused federal agents to place them under investigation for selling a cancer treatment alternative? Mary left for Mexico, and has refused to return to the UK. After a court hearing on April 18th, 2016, she is now liable to serve 10 years in prison if she returns to the UK.
Who is this Mary? Amanda Mary Jewell is an independent cancer researcher in the UK, with previous work in Bulgaria and abroad. The MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, akin to the FDA) is intensely displeased with her, to the point of litigation. Claiming that Mary has been promoting two cancer-fighting foods, apricot seeds and apple seeds, they also claim that the seeds may pose potentially serious risks.
While the supplements have been claimed to be nothing short of miraculous by some in the alternative health community, the MHRA is not convinced. All this aside, Mary has been unfairly targeted for exclusion because of her potentially life-saving Miracle Minerals Solution. She claims to have treated late-stage cancer with holistic methods.
So who is in the right — the MHRA, or Mary? Let’s take a look:
The MHRA claims that promoting apple and apricot seeds breaks the following statutes:
-FRAUD ACT 2006: FALSELY REPRESENTING A PRODUCT. IN MARY€™S CASE, THE GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT APRICOT KERNELS CAN HELP TREAT CANCER.
-THE CANCER ACT OF 1939: PROHIBITS ANYONE FROM MAKING ANY ADVERTISEMENTS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH UNAPPROVED CANCER TREATMENTS.
-THE NUTRITIONAL AND HEALTH CLAIMS OF ENGLAND REGULATIONS 2007
-THE CONSUMER PROTECTION AND UNFAIR TRADING REGULATIONS OF 2008
-THE HUMAN MEDICINES REGULATION OF 2012
-THE SUPPLEMENTS ENGLAND REGULATIONS OF 2003
-THE ORGANIC PRODUCTS REGULATION OF 2009
A suspicious trend emerges: This list essentially creates a monopoly for the pharmaceutical industry’s synthetic products. For doctors following a natural, holistic path, this list can be used against them at any time to cause their studies to end.
Mary believes that “do no harm” goes against major cancer treatments. Quoting the Hippocratic oath, Mary argues that apple and apricot seeds do not classify as a “poison” as many chemotherapy drugs might. Because of the harm they do to the body, Mary refuses to use chemo and radiation as therapy, stating the following in an e-mail:
“I WOULD LIKE TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THOSE ACTUALLY DOING HARM. YOU WORK FOR THE HARMACEUTICALS… PHARMACEUTICALS DO HARM HENCE IT’S NOT A TYPO, I REALLY DO MEAN HARMACEUTICALS — THAT KILL PEOPLE DAILY. YOUR ORGANIZATION STOPS ANYONE FROM GETTING WELL.”
Mary has posted a video as well, describing an e-mail that she received from a health official. Furthermore, she discusses the controversy over “mysterious” deaths of holistic doctors, and pleads for the audience to help.
