Roman Fedortsov, a fisherman that works out of the port of Murmansk in Russia, normally works a trawler, netting for fish and pulling in the ones he’s looking for. Occasionally, something else comes up in the net.

Fedortsov has begun documenting his finds on his Instagram account.

Ranging from the strange to the obscene, these creatures defy what we know and serve as evidence that there is a world below us, unexplored.

It is also noted that many of the predators are red and black. This is because red light doesn’t penetrate the depths of the ocean, so red and black creatures are, essentially, invisible to the creatures they would hunt.

What a world.
